I don’t know about others, but I don’t find the “slowness” of mastodon to be a bug, it’s a feature.
The fact that there isn’t always new content on my feed is a good thing, I don’t need to be glued to my feed constantly.
I know it’s early days (for me), but this feels way more intentional already.
@kyleshevlin agreed mostly, but I wish I could load and upload images faster, keep not seeing them in posts and I keep getting timeouts when I try to upload my own.
@lindsaykwardell @kyleshevlin your server keeps getting slammed with newcomers so it keeps slowing down. If the growth settles hopefully it gets faster. I was on that one but moved and haven't had problems since

I can appreciate niches, but I’d rather just be able to share my whole self. Maybe I’ll go self hosted at some point.
@kyleshevlin @sia I’ve got a secondary account on twit.social, I just don’t want to migrate and they seem to be having trouble too. Guessing it’s a general growing pain right now, but I also am liking the slower pace.
@kyleshevlin so far it looks like most of them let you be yourself/ post "off-topic". I see cats, dogs, and crochet in my frontend one 😃
@lindsaykwardell @kyleshevlin I haven't minded the slowness too much. The one place I've really noticed it is with viewing photos that people have posted. A lot of times I only get the preview image that doesn't really show you anything. And even expanding the image doesn't download it
But as @sia mentioned, I'm looking into moving instances. I just need to find a good place to land
