One of the topics: it's tempting to think all the energy around ActivityPub etc. is some nostalgic desire on the part of old-timers to return to the web's glory days or whatever.

Well actually…there was *never* an open web-based social network to the scale we're now seeing. Go back to the 90s or early 2000s…the protocols just weren't there.

We're not trying to rebuild the past. We're trying to build the future!
