@crayzeigh I was listening to an audiobook after about 6 months on E, and one of the main characters died. First time a book brought me to tears. TV had done it before, but not just from the words.

I shared a blog post on Twitter and Mastodon yesterday. Based on my site traffic, I got ~76 hits from Mastodon (which doesn’t show as a referrer), with 23 boosts and 42 likes.
I got 9 hits from Twitter, with 3 retweets and 7 likes.
I have 363 followers on Mastodon, and 1208 on Twitter.
I know the post was about Mastodon so there is some bias, but I feel like the community here is tangible. Looking forward to using Mastodon more going forward!

@piturnah I have a degree in Software Development, not specifically CS. Didn’t get some algorithm courses and theory, and my final was to build an app instead of writing a paper.

@kyleshevlin hot takes about popular CSS frameworks seems to work, although I’m unsure if it’ll do anything here.

@Trey I really enjoy it! I migrated my blog from Nuxt to Astro back before they switched to Vite. Feels comfortable to work with.
I also use Vue for a couple components, like a search on the home page, and getting them working is very straightforward.

@goulet I believe so, you would just need to host some more APIs for integrating with ActivityPub and things. Unsure how replies and boosts would work, but it’s possible.

@jaredwhite same! I’m looking into ways to integrate my Astro site with the Fediverse more, it’s been really exciting to have the kind of integration available that just wasn’t there before.

@patak I think that would be really nice! Having to choose to see previously read content makes a lot of sense, feels a lot like RSS readers.

My favorite part of using Mastodon so far is that the chronological timeline helps me stop scrolling. If I reach content I’ve already seen, I can just stop. And that’s wonderful ❤️
