@daniel I'm not just following people though, I have a number of tags pinned. Content from servers that federate with mastodon.social appears there, even if I don't follow the individual posters.
@patak @daniel On the other hand, I'm a moderator on clocktower.social, I could hypothetically just move everything there, but am I cutting off my access to other kinds of content?
@patak @daniel Yeah, I've heard that too. It's just difficult for me because I'm trying to follow tabletop RPGs, trans/LGBT topics, writing, NASA/space exploration, and all the code/tech stuff. Being on a big instances gives me a big net, and I never have to look at the local feed (which is basically worthless here).
@patak @daniel I keep seeing people changing servers and wondering whether I should do the same. Mastodon.social seems to have resolved its performance issues, and I have a lot of interests I want to follow beyond just tech. What's your thought/feeling on moving instances at this point?
@shaneafsar I think it wouldn’t be too much effort, honestly. The larger issue may be allowing data to flow back into your Astro site. Not sure how the API works, but it’d be interesting to find out!
Feel like the ChatGPT would be good for generating writing prompts.
@iSeven07 I use it about once a month, and that mostly through the app. I don’t enjoy the site at all.
@kevinctofel I’ll keep an eye out for your review!
@kevinctofel Realky wish Google had been able to focus on Chromebooks more, I was super excited about the Pixelbook and then it went nowhere. They seem like such a great device for so many people.
@thisismissem it's referenced higher in the doc, the problem is that including the time zone isn't supported for `datetime-local` inputs so they're cutting off the ISO datetime string at the "z".
"...the Date.toISOString() method returns the date/time in UTC with the suffix "Z" denoting that timezone; removing the "Z" would provide a value in the format expected by a datetime-local input."
https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/HTML/Element/input/datetime-local#value
TIL that there is a Y10K problem that will affect web apps, but never fear, MDN is ready to help you through it!
Also, shoutout to GoatCounter (https://www.goatcounter.com/) for being really good, open source tracking for free that respects privacy.
Feel free to check out my site statistics here: https://lindsaykwardell.goatcounter.com/
A bit over a week later, I now have ~118 views from Mastodon, and 13 from Twitter. Despite the timeline not being algorithmic, I'm getting more views from Mastodon.
I also got 13 views from another site's blog post that referenced my post, so Twitter's showing here is really not great.
Again, I know that this is going to be biased since I'm writing about Mastodon, but I thought it was noteworthy.
@philnash Thanks for the link in your blog post on Mastodon! Just looked at my stats and I'm seeing some traffic coming from your site ❤️

@andy I have a small purse that I use at home when I'm wearing an outfit without pockets so that I can have a pocket.
2023 is only a month away. This year cannot end fast enough.
@starshaped I’m in the same boat, I think I’m just going to walk through some context, then go month by month.
